Welcome to Kreative Kids!
We offer music classes for babies, toddlers, and young children ages 3 months – 6 years old and their families. Located in South Philly, our classes are open to the local community and take place at both of our locations for Young Children’s Center for the Arts.
What is Kreative Kids?
Kreative Kids is a music appreciation program that was founded in 1985 by Alexis Birnbaum. As both a music therapist and a music teacher, Ms. Birnbaum developed Kreative Kids to introduce infants, toddlers and preschoolers to the world of music and the benefits it provides. Now part of Young Children’s Center for the Arts, Kreative Kids has been redeveloped by music therapist Katy Hutchings to provide music classes for YCCA community and the local community as well. Our goal is to afford children the opportunity to realize the skills to their fullest potential. Furthermore, youngsters can relate to “the musical experience” on an emotional level, and can begin building the foundations for music and sound appreciation. Our classes are designed with special attention to each child’s physical, emotional, creative and cognitive needs. Geared toward specific age groups, each of our classes focuses on the musical development of the child at that age and helps each child reach their full potential through music. In our younger classes, we provide valuable materials, such as the tone block, triangle, and maraca, which aid in stimulating a child’s auditory sphere throughout his/her development. For our older children, we introduce more advanced instruments while also teaching the basics of musical appreciation and note reading. Kreative Kids introduces children to the world of music in order to give them a gift of a lifetime.What classes are offered?
